Missouri's winter eagle watching is spectacular. If you can’t make it to one of our many Eagle Days events (check out the calendar below), browse our best-places list for locations to enjoy eagle-viewing on your own. From late December through early February, watch for eagles perched in large trees along the water’s edge. Get out early in the morning to see the eagles flying and fishing.

- Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area on Route K, southwest of Columbia
- Lock & Dam 24 at Clarksville
- Lock & Dam 25 east of Winfield
- Mingo National Wildlife Refuge northwest of Puxico
- Old Chain of Rocks Bridge south of I-270, off of Riverview Drive, St. Louis
- Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary east of West Alton
- Schell-Osage Conservation Area north of El Dorado Springs
- Smithville Lake north of Kansas City
- Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge south of Mound City
- Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge south of Sumner
- Table Rock Lake and Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery southwest of Branson

Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area
Join Missouri Department of Conservation and Missouri River Bird Observatory staff for a fall birding trip with the Missouri Young Birders Club to Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area, in Boone County. Meet trip leaders at the Katy Trail, McBaine Trailhead. From there, we will use MDC vehicles and carpool to and throughout the Eagle Bluffs CA. Binoculars and field guides will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. All birding levels welcome - from beginners to experienced birders Come enjoy the fall migration and the diverse birdlife at Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area.

Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge
Come to Loess Bluff National Wildlife Refuge for the 47th Annual Eagle Days event. Starting at 9 on Saturday and 11 on Sunday there will be live eagle shows on the hour by World Bird Sanctuary. There will also be optional stops on the auto tour route to stop and view eagles and waterfowl through spotting scopes. The refuge visitor's center will also be open. Food and drinks will be available for purchase as well.
