Dave Rock Natural Area

A 44-acre portion of the 133-acre Dave Rock Conservation Area located about one mile south of Lowry City, on a gravel road in the W1/2, NW1/4 of Section 25, T39N, R26W, Osceola 7.5 min. topographic map. Access is by foot from an area parking lot. Designated March 13, 1987.

Natural Features--A sandstone glade, savanna and dry and dry mesic sandstone forest in the Osage Plains Natural Division. Various lichens and mosses, as well as little bluestem, rushfoil and poverty grass grow on the glade. Black jack and post oaks and black hickory dominate the woodlands. Dave Rock Natural Area is owned and managed by the Department of Conservation. For further information contact the Wildlife District Supervisor, Truman District Office, P.O.
