Blair Creek Raised Fen Natural Area
A 3-acre portion of the Mark Twain National Forest located south of Bunker in the SW1/4, NE1/4, SE1/4, SW1/4 of Section 30, T31N, R2W, Midridge 7.5 min. topographic map. Access is by foot from the Ozark Trail or from a gravel road off Hwy P. Designated January 24, 1986.
Natural Features--The only raised fen known in Missouri. The fen is in Blair Creek Valley at the base of a wooded slope in the Lower Ozarks Section of the Ozark Natural Division. It contains marsh blue violet and glossy-leaf aster, both rare species. Sedges and water-loving shrubs dominate the area.
