Ha Ha Tonka Savanna Natural Area

A 953-acre portion of Ha Ha Tonka State Park located south of Camdenton in Sections 1, 2, 11 and 12, T37N, R7W, Ha Ha Tonka 7.5 topographic map. Access is by foot from Hwy D. Designated November 28, 1990. Includes Red Sink and Lodge Glade both designated February 10, 1981.

Natural Features

A high-quality chert, dolomite, and sandstone savanna interspersed with dolomite glades in the Upper Ozarks Section of the Ozark Natural Division. The area contains one of the largest publicly-owned savanna landscapes left in Missouri. It has been actively managed since 1983. This management has resulted in a highly diverse assemblage of native prairie and woodland species including royal catchfly and ladies' tresses. The area has a self-guided interpretive trail.
