Mint Spring Seep Natural Area

A 5-acre area located 10 miles south of Owensville on Hwy EE, then west on a county gravel road. Part of the E1/2 of Section 13, T40N, R6W, Redbird 7.5 min. topographic map. Designated August 24, 1982.

Natural Features--A spring seep and seep forest, a small stream, and outcrops of Roubidoux sandstone in the Upper Ozarks Section of the Ozark Natural Division. The seep springs keep about a half-acre of the soil continually wet. Sycamore, swamp white oak, river birch, alder and spice bush are woody plants that grow here. Moisture-loving plants include several kinds of mosses and ferns, and the uncommon swamp saxifrage. The natural area is owned by the Department of Conservation.
