OZARK 115 Haden Bald
Haden Bald Natural Area
A 40-acre area of the Mark Twain National Forest, about 10 miles south of Ava in Section 4, T24N, R16W, Smallett 7.5 min. topographic map. Access requires walking 0.3 mile from a gravel road. Permission from the owner of surrounding private land is required to get to Haden Bald. Designated December 16, 1983.
Natural Features--Dolomite glades on slopes facing west, north and east with plants and animals that are characteristic of the White River Hills Section of the Ozark Natural Division. Smoke tree has flower stalks that look like puffs of smoke in the spring. Eastern collared lizard and Bachman's sparrow use the area. This area is also registered in the Society of American Foresters' natural area system.
