Kids Fishing on the August A. Busch Conservation Area
The August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area is a great place to bring the kids out for a fun day of fishing. The area has excellent opportunities for kids to learn to fish including Kids Fishing Events, Kids Fishing Lake, and seasonal opportunities to catch large numbers wild crappie, bluegill, and bass. Take some time this summer to bring the family out and enjoy the outdoors.
Kids Fishing Events:
- Kids or Family Fishing events annually provide excellent fishing and educational opportunities for thousands of kids
- Many kids catch their first fish in the well-stocked lakes at these events and build lifetime memories of the joys of fishing
Kids Fishing Lake (Lake 12):
Kids 15 and under only- One pole per angler
- Daily Limit: 2 Fish
- Stocked regularly with hybrid sunfish
- Great place to introduce kids to fishing
Seasonal Opportunities:
- Crappie spawn at Lake 33 and Lake 35 late April-fish 1 hour before dark with minnows or 1/32oz jigs
- Bluegill spawn in late May-June. Fish Lake 6, 34, 37, and 38 with worms and crickets using bobbers and small hooks
- Overpopulated bass in Lakes 9, 10, 21, 23, 31, and 34 offer abundant 9-12” bass for beginning anglers; use small bass lures on light line
- Fish bite best in mornings and evenings which is the most enjoyable time to introduce kids to fishing
