contributor image Chris Brown works as an entomologist for the Monsanto Company in St. Louis. Research and photography have taken him to various places in South and Central America and the Caribbean, but he enjoys studying natural history in Missouri. He says he likes tiger beetles because many of the species have such specific habitat requirements.
contributor image Fisheries management biologist Craig Gemming has worked for the Conservation Department since 1981. He is responsible for managing our public lakes and streams in the central part of the state. He enjoys working on Missouri River issues and coordinates the state’s pallid sturgeon recovery plan. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, turkey hunting and family outdoor activities.
contributor image Ted C. MacRae is a research entomologist with Monsanto Company in St. Louis. He earned a Master’s Degree in entomology from the University of Missouri and worked several years for the Missouri Department of Agriculture. He is an avid student of beetle taxonomy and has published several scientific papers on the beetle fauna of Missouri.
contributor image Norman Murray is the natural history supervisor of the Conservation Department’s West Central region. He works out of the Clinton office, but he lives in Gerster with his wife, Sheila, and two sons. He enjoys turkey hunting and improving the wildlife habitat on his property. One of his biggest passions is prairie restoration.
contributor image Francis Skalicky is the metro media specialist for the Department of Conservation’s Southwest Region. He, his wife, Michele, and their daughters, 2-year-old Anna and 6-month-old Kate, live in Springfield. As their kids get older, Francis and Michele hope to resume their pre-parenthood pastime of hiking area trails. He also plans to get more vegetables from his garden than local wildlife does.
contributor image Wildlife ecologist Janet Sternburg is responsible for gathering information about rare and endangered animals in Missouri for the Natural Heritage Database. She loves being near and in water, especially warm coastal waters, and enjoys scuba diving, traveling, volleyball, cycling and reading.
