Eric W. Kurzejeski is an avid deer hunter. His children and wife, Lori, also spend time on the deer stand each fall. Venison products are a food staple in the family. Eric has worked for the Conservation Department for more than 25 years and is currently a wildlife research supervisor. He and his family reside in Columbia. |

Bryan Hendricks is managing editor of the Conservationist. He says he is always amazed at how many deer he sees in spring and summer, and how few he sees in November. He considers deer season a full semester in pursuit of a degree he will never actually acquire. |

Joan McKee, an editor/designer for the Conservation Department, loves to discover the outdoors while hiking and canoeing. A former junior high and high school teacher, she now shares her love of nature and teaching as a volunteer canoe instructor with the Department's outdoor skills classes. |

Francis Skalicky is the metro media specialist for the Department of Conservation's Southwest Region. He has worked for the Department of Conservation for six years. He lives in Springfield with his wife, Michele, and their two daughters. He spends the majority of his spare time giving piggy back rides, attending tea parties and learning how to braid hair. |
