Natural Features Description:

A large outcrop of sandstone here creates a mosaic of sandstone glade and dry sandstone woodland communities. Drought adapted plants including little bluestem, prickly pear cactus, pine-weed, blackjack oak, fame flower, and common rushfoil manage to survive in this xeric place.

Lichens and mosses are also common across the sandstone glade.

This natural area is within Dave Rock Conservation Area. From Osceola travel north on Highway 13. After passing the intersection with Highway CC, go one more mile north and turn left (west) on to County Road NE 700 (gravel). Follow County Road NE 700 a little over a mile and then turn left (south) on to County Road NE 301 (gravel). The area parking lot is less than a quarter mile away on the west side of the road. A map and compass are recommended to explore this area. Hunting is permitted.
