Natural Features:
Karst geologic features are those produced by the dissolution of carbonate bedrock. Karst features include caves, springs, sinkholes, collapsed caves, natural bridges and cliffs. This natural area features a spectacular gorge with sheer cliffs nearly 250 feet high. Hiking trails provide access to a natural bridge, the “Colosseum” sinkhole and Ha Ha Tonka Spring. The spring has an average daily flow of 48 million gallons and feeds into Lake of the Ozarks. Nearby River Cave is also part of the natural area and is gated to protect the fragile cave animals inside.
This natural area is within Ha Ha Tonka State Park. From Camdenton, take Highway 54 west for 2.4 miles. Turn left (south) onto Highway D and go 1.6 miles to the state park’s visitor center. Hiking trails provide access to the natural area.
