A white-tailed deer may live up to 15 years
in the wild—if it eats right, exercises and
avoids hunters. In cushy, protected locations, such
as zoos, deer may live up to 25 years. In Missouri,
more than 90 percent of deer taken by hunters are
less than 4 years old.

Some snails live on land; others live in
fresh or salt water. Water snails have gills
(usually) and land snails have lungs, but both are
able to breathe in air or water. Snails can go nearly
anywhere (although not very quickly) because
they travel on a strong foot that clings to almost
anything.

The male bobwhite quail has a white
throat and a white stripe above its eye and
down its neck. The female looks similar, but her
markings are duller tones of brown and tan, or “buff colored.”
