Help eliminate feral hogs

Because they are prolific breeders, destructive, and dangerous to livestock and other animals, feral hogs should be eliminated from Missouri’s landscape. To accomplish this goal, here are a few simple things you can do.

Shoot them on sight

If you encounter a feral hog while hunting deer or other game, shoot it on sight! Feral hogs may be taken in any number throughout the year. During most of the year, no permit is required and any method, including baiting and the use of dogs, is allowed. However, special restrictions apply during the fall firearms deer and turkey hunting seasons. Please refer to the current Fall Deer and Turkey Hunting Regulations Information brochure for tips on hunting feral hogs and additional information on regulations.

Report sightings

Report sightings of feral hogs to U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services at (573) 449-3033 ext. 13, the Department of Conservation at (573) 522-4115 ext. 3147, or the State Veterinarian’s office at (573) 751-3377.

Keep domestic hogs penned

If you are a hog producer, ensure that your animals are properly confined.

Report illegal releases

Intentionally releasing feral hogs onto public property or private property not completely enclosed by a fence is illegal. Report all information about the illegal release of feral hogs to your local Conservation Agent or call the Operation Game Thief Hotline at 1 (800) 392-1111.
