CONSERVATION ACTION
News of the Oct. 6, 2000 Conservation Commission meeting

The Conservation Commission met October 6 at The Harry S Truman Visitor Center, Warsaw, Missouri. Commissioners present were:

Ronald J. Stites, Plattsburg
Randy Herzog, St. Joseph
Anita B. Gorman, Kansas City

The next meeting of the Conservation Commission was set for November 21, 2000 at the Conservation Department Northwest Regional Office, St. Joseph, Missouri.

PRESENTATIONS

Commission meetings are open to the public. Those wishing to be placed on the agenda for a presentation or other business must send a written request to Director, Department of Conservation, P. O. Box 180, Jefferson City MO 65102-0180, or FAX to (573) 751-4467, at least 10 working days before the meeting date. The Commission heard the following presentations:

• Charles E. Kruse, President, Missouri Farm Bureau, presented views on use of black carp in commercial aquaculture operations and elk reintroduction in Missouri.
• Bruce L. Rogers, City Manager, El Dorado Springs, to discuss a proposed shooting range in the El Dorado Springs area.

ADMINISTRATION:

The Commission also took the following action:

• Authorized entering into a contract for construction of the Four Rivers Conservation Area Units 3 & 4 Wetlands Development Project located in Vernon County.
• Authorized entering into a contract for construction of the Warrenton Office Complex located in Warren County.
• Authorized selling 0.97 acres of White Ranch Conservation Area in Howell County to the Missouri Department of Transportation for reconstruction of the Highway 142 bridge across the West Fork of Spring Creek.
