News of the March 30, 2001 Conservation Commission meeting

The Conservation Commission met March 30 at The Country Club Hotel, Lake Ozark.

Commissioners present were:

Randy Herzog, St. Joseph
Ronald J. Stites, Plattsburg
Howard L. Wood, Bonne Terre

The next meeting of the Conservation Commission was set for April 20, 2001, at The Black River Coliseum, Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

PRESENTATIONS Commission meetings are open to the public. Those wishing to be placed on the agenda for a presentation or other business must send a written request to Director, Department of Conservation, P. O. Box 180, Jefferson City MO 65102-0180, or FAX to (573) 751-4467, at least 10 working days before the meeting date. The Commission heard the following presentation:

• Volunteer Service Awards for 2,000 hours of volunteer service at the Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center to Tom O’Gorman, David Sherman and Rosemary Witte.

ADMINISTRATION: The Commission also took the following action:

• Authorized purchasing 280 acres in Greene County as an addition to Bois d’Arc Conservation Area.
• Authorized purchasing approximately 80 acres in Atchison County as an addition to Tarkio Prairie Conservation Area.
• Authorized purchasing approximately 48.69 acres in Schuyler County as an addition to Rebel’s Cove Conservation Area.
• Approved one area name.
• Approved presentation at a future meeting of a Special Achievement Award to one employee.
• Approved modifications to Department’s Vehicle and Other Motorized Equipment policy in the Human Resources Policy Manual.
• Approved a new Department policy, Job Sharing, in the Human Resources Policy Manual.
