Commission meetings are open to the public. Those wishing to be placed on
the agenda for a presentation or other business must send a written request
to Director, Department of Conservation, P.O. Box 180, Jefferson City, MO
65102-0180, or FAX (573) 751-4467, at least 10 working days before the meeting
date. The deadline for the next meeting is Dec. 6, 2002. The Conservation
Commission met Nov. 20 at the Conservation Research Center in Columbia and
Nov. 21 at the Columbia Best Western Inn. Commissioners present were:
Howard L. Wood, Bonne Terre, Chairman
Stephen C. Bradford, Cape Girardeau, Vice-Chairman
Cynthia Metcalfe, St. Louis , Secretary
Anita B. Gorman, Kansas City, Member
The next meeting of the Conservation Commission was set for Dec. 20 at Conservation
Department Headquarters in Jefferson City.
PRESENTATION:
In open session, the Commission heard the following presentations:
- Steven R. Sullivan, Vice President for regulatory policy and general counsel
for AmerenUE, discussed issues pertaining to the 2002 fish kill at Bagnell
Dam.
REGULATIONS:
- The Commission approved the Regulation Committee's recommendation for a
21-day spring turkey hunting season from April 21 through May 11, 2003. A
person possessing the prescribed turkey hunting permit may take two male turkeys
or turkeys with visible beard during the season; provided only one may be
taken the first seven days of the season (April 21 through April 27) and only
one turkey may be taken per day from April 28 through May 11.
- The Commission set Youth Spring Hunting Season for April 12 through 13,
2003.
ADMINISTRATION:
The Commission also took the following action:
- Approved the purchase of 16 acres in Boone County as an addition to Three
Creeks Conservation Area
The Commission voted to suspend the hunting and fishing privileges of the following
people for Wildlife Code violations:
- Doug R. Abbiatti, Avilla, 1 year, all privileges
- Justin S. Knipfel, Montgomery City, 3 years, all privileges
- Chuck E. Mayes, Belle, 4 years, all privileges
- John Partney, Van Buren, lifetime, all privileges
- Justin W. Rogers, Unionville, 1 year, all privileges
- Shawn C. Walker, Hornersville, 1 year, all privileges
