The Conservation Commission met July 7 at Conservation Department Headquarters in Jefferson City
Commissioners present were:

The next meeting of the Conservation Commission was set for Aug. 17 and 18 in Sedalia.
PRESENTATIONS:
Commission meetings are open to the public. Those wishing to be placed on the agenda for a presentation or other business must send a written request to Director, Department of Conservation, P.O. Box 180, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0180, or FAX 573/751-4467, at least 10 working days before the meeting date. The deadline for the next meeting is Aug. 4.
- Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Director Doyle Childers and DNR Deputy Director Doug Eiken presented a Missouri Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission Legacy Award to the Conservation Commission for several notable Lewis and Clark bicentennial projects.
- State Rep. Peter Myers, Sikeston, and Dr. Abner Womack, Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute at the University of Missouri-Columbia, discussed water-quality issues in agriculture.
The Conservation Commission presented service awards to the following Conservation Department employees:
- 35 years - Gene Lindsey, Protection District Supervisor, Canton
- 30 years - Lloyd Johnston, Forestry Resource Assistant, Neosho Michael Colvin, Resource Scientist, Columbia
- 25 years - Kathy Cooper, Private Land Conservationist, Windsor, Cynthia DiStefano, Resource Scientist, Harrisburg Timothy Grace, Fisheries Regional Supervisor, Columbia Timothy Pratt, Forestry Resource Assistant, Steelville Pattie Redel, Outreach and Education Regional Supervisor, Eureka Elizabeth Stricklen, Conservation Agent, Lebanon Kevin Sullivan, Resource Scientist, Clinton
ADMINISTRATION:
The Commission took the following action:
- Approved the purchase of 3.02 acres in Cooper County, including a communication tower and small equipment building, from Mid-Missouri Telephone of Pilot Grove.
- Approved the transfer of .27 acres in Hickory County to the Hickory County Commission for bridge replacement where County Road 64 crosses Starks Creek on Mule Shoe Conservation Area (CA).
- Approved the exchange of 3.7 acres of Little Lost Creek CA in Warren County for 3.7 acres in Warren County to resolve a boundary issue.
- Approved responses to resolutions adopted by the Conservation Federation of Missouri.
- Approved Master Conservationist recognition for G.E. "Shag" Grossnickle, Kirksville, and Leo and Kay Drey, University City.
- Approved a resolution recognizing Conservation Commissioner Emeritus Anita Gorman, Kansas City, for 12 years of service and leadership on the Commission.
- Suspended hunting and/or fishing privileges of 29 Missouri residents and three nonresidents for Wildlife Code violations. Those whose privileges were suspended are:

- Approved the suspension or revocation of all hunting and fishing privileges of six Missouri residents and 403 nonresidents in accordance with the terms of the Interstate Wildlife Violators Compact.
- Suspended all hunting privileges of three Missouri residents for one year for injuring other persons in firearms-related hunting incidents.
- Suspended all hunting privileges of one Missouri resident for five years for a bowhunting incident resulting in a fatality.
- Approved the suspension or revocation of all hunting and fishing privileges of 60 persons who are not in compliance with applicable child support laws.
