The Missouri Conservation Commission met May 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Dogwood Canyon in Lampe for its Closed Executive Session and May 23 at 9 a.m. at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale for its Regular Open Meeting. Commissioners present were:

  • Overview of proposed changes to the Wildlife Code regarding various permits -- Aaron Jeffries, Deputy Director
  • Overview of proposed changes to the Wildlife Code regarding chronic wasting disease and cervid carcass movement -- Jason Sumners, Resource Science Division Chief
  • Overview of proposed changes to the Wildlife Code regarding rules pertaining to all portions of the 2019-2020 deer hunting season -- Kevyn Wiskirchen, Animal Resource Scientist

Administration

The Commission:

  • Gave initial approval of recommendations for changes to the Wildlife Code regarding various permits.
  • Gave initial approval of changes to the Wildlife Code regarding chronic wasting disease and cervid carcass movement.
  • Approved changes to the Wildlife Code regarding rules pertaining to all portions of the 2019-2020 deer hunting season.
  • Approved the Department’s Fiscal Year 2020 Internal Expenditure Plan.
  • Approved the purchase of approximately 0.5 acre in Stoddard County as an addition to Duck Creek Conservation Area.
  • Approved a contract for the construction of the Southeast Regional Office Building Addition project located in Cape Girardeau County.
  • Approved two new construction policies as additions to the MDC Business Policy Manual.
  • Approved policy and procedural changes to MDC policy: Tobacco Free Workplace.
  • Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Columbia Public Schools.
  • Approved accepting the donation, in part, and purchase, in part, of approximately 207 acres in Boone County as an addition to Three Creeks Conservation Area.
  • Suspended or revoked one or more hunting, fishing, or trapping privileges of 28 individuals for cause:

  • Suspended or revoked hunting privileges of two individuals who inflicted injury to another person while hunting and required completion of hunter-education training for both.
  • Suspended or revoked all hunting and fishing privileges of 168 individuals who are not in compliance with applicable child support laws.
  • Suspended or revoked one or more hunting, fishing, and trapping privileges of 222 individuals in accordance with the terms of the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact.
  • Set the next regular meeting for June 27 and 28, 2019.
