MDC Staff will open the Deer Ridge Trap house for anyone to practice their shotgun shooting skills. Prior shotgun shooting experience a must, this opportunity is for people looking to practice their shooting ability, whether for trap shooting or to get ready for upcoming hunting seasons.

Participants must: bring their own shotgun, ammo, eye and ear protection, and register online.

MDC will provide one round of 25 clay targets per person registered.

11 -17-year-olds are REQUIRED to have an adult with them throughout their time on the range.

This squirrel hunting clinic is for first time hunters or anyone wanting to gain more experience hunting squirrels. Hunters 16 years of age and older must be hunter education certified and possess a valid small game hunting permit, or proof of exemption.

Friday evening (5:00pm-8:00pm) will consist of a classroom setting to learn habit, regulations, equipment familiarization and target shooting. Saturday morning (6:30am-12:00pm) will consist of squirrel hunting, a cleaning demonstration and how to prepare squirrel for cooking.

Each hunter will be assigned by a mentor. Firearms and ammunition will be provided.

Virtual Vise: Fly Tying at Home! Join us when avid tyer Pat Rigby shows us how to buy hackle and the different characteristics of different types of hackle and their uses. He will also tie a few dry flies and if we are lucky one of them will be the Adam's like fly!

Materials:

size 12-14 dry fly hooks

Dry hackle of at least 2 different colors brown, ginger and grizzly are fun.

Body materials such as dubbing, floss, poly, etc.

Tail material such as a fun colored or textured feather.

Wing material of feathers, like mallard flank or something like it.

Missouri Disabled Sportsmen will host a multi-day dove hunt for 12 mobility-impaired hunters and/or youth hunters (ages 9-17).

The hunts will take place on private property through a partnership with a local landowner.

Missouri Disabled Sportsmen will provide experienced mentors to assist in the field and have track chairs on-site for mobility-impaired hunters to use.

All licensing requirements and transportation to the event are the participant's responsibility.

The selected participants will be contacted by Missouri Disabled Sportsmen approximately two weeks prior to the event. Non-selected registrants will be placed on a waiting list in the event of cancellations.

Missouri Disabled Sportsmen is hosting the 18th annual Timmy "Taters" Smith antlerless deer hunt for mobility-challenged and youth(ages 9-17) hunters.

Eighteen hunters will be selected from the registrants to participate in the hunt. MDS will provide each hunter with experienced mentors, skinning & quartering services, and all meals.

All federal and state game laws will apply.

Successful hunt applicants will be notified via email approximately 3-weeks prior to the hunt.
