Conservation Commission Ends Advancement of Several Recommendations
In light of public comments and the economic downturn, the Conservation Commission at its December 19, 2008, meeting voted to stop advancement of several changes to permit requirements and resident price increases. Read more.
Resident and Nonresident Permits
- You can purchase permits at your local MDC office, at your local permit vendor, by phone at (800) 392-4115, or via the Web site (a $2 surcharge is applied to purchases by phone or Web).
- Special permits for commercial hunting and fishing, collectors, taxidermists and others are also available.

| Resident Fur Handler’s Permit For possessing, processing, transporting and shipping legally taken pelts of furbearers from February 16 through June 1, which is beyond the normal possession season. Must also have resident hunting or trapping permit to take furbearers or be exempt. Only pelts taken by the permit holder may be possessed. Pelts sold within Missouri to a fur dealer or buyer must be fleshed, stretched and dried. Valid until June 30, 2010. |

| Apprentice Hunter Authorization (This is not a permit to hunt.) To allow the purchase of firearms hunting permits (except the Youth Deer & Turkey Hunting Permit) by persons born on or after January 1, 1967 and at least sixteen (16) years of age without display of a hunter education certificate card. The holder of this authorization also must purchase a firearms hunting permit and hunt in the immediate presence of an appropriately licensed adult age 21 or older who is hunter education certified.
